Going to Miss the Election? Vote by Absentee Ballot

If you’re going to be out of town for the May 18 primary election or have a full day of patients that will keep you away from your voting municipality all day, there’s still time to vote by absentee ballot.

To be eligible, you must be away from the municipality where you are registered to vote because of your “duties, obligations or business” from when the polls open at 7 AM to when they close at 8 PM.

Applications for an absentee ballot are due to your county board of elections by 5 PM on Tuesday, May 11. The completed ballot must be returned by 5 PM on Friday, May 14.

Before requesting an absentee ballot, make sure you are registered to vote. If you are not registered, it is too late to register for the May primary, but you can still register for the November general election.

Then, print and complete the absentee ballot application. Mail the completed application to your county board of elections.
