PAMED Became Corporation to Organize the Medical Profession and Advance Medical Science 124 Years Ago

On Nov. 26, 1890, the charter was signed and the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) officially became a corporation, with the purpose of organizing the medical profession and advancing medical science in Pennsylvania.

“A lot has changed for Pennsylvania physicians since the original PAMED Charter was signed – but one thing remains true: the need for a strong, organized voice for physicians and patients remains,” said Michael Fraser, PhD, CEO, executive vice president of PAMED.

“PAMED is that voice and we thank all our members for being part of our work on behalf of all physicians, and their patients, statewide,” he said.
