PA Physicians Part of Health Care Transition

Gov.-elect Tom Wolf recently announced the names of more than 250 people that will review various agencies, commissions, and issues as part of his transition team.

Among those tasked with reviewing health issues are Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) members Rachel Levine, MD, Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at the Penn State College of Medicine and co-chair of the health transition team; Susan Taylor, MD, a dermatologist from Wynnewood; Larry Kaiser, MD, dean at Temple University School of Medicine; and Stuart Shapiro, MD, president and CEO of the Pennsylvania Health Care Association. Larry Light, senior vice president of physician advocacy and political affairs at PAMED, also will be reviewing health issues as a member of Wolf’s transition team.

“The transition team’s review of the Department of Health is important for the broad spectrum of health care providers, but also especially for patients,” said Mr. Light. “Recent Secretaries of Health like Everette James and now Mike Wolf have really been successful in bringing the department to a more meaningful role in state government. I’m sure the goal of the new Wolf administration is to continue that trend.”
