PHC4 Funding Extended for Another Three Years

On April 8, 2014, the state Senate unanimously approved a funding bill to extend the life of the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4) for another three years.

PHC4 was slated to “sunset,” or fade out of existence, on June 30. The body collects and reports on important hospital data, and extending its life is something the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) strongly supports.

PHC4 is an independent state agency responsible for addressing the problem of escalating health costs, ensuring the quality of health care, and increasing access for all citizens regardless of ability to pay.
