Public Health Alert System Enhanced

Pennsylvania physicians can now get more information about urgent public health crises. The Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) and Medscape are partnering to offer enhanced communication to physicians and other health care providers on critical public health messages.

Currently, subscribers receive public health alerts through DOH’s PA-Health Alert Network (HAN). Medscape will begin distributing this information to their members as well so that more health care providers across the commonwealth have access to this vital information.

“This partnership complements our current PA-HAN system and will allow us to heighten our efforts and reach additional Pennsylvania health care professionals in a timely manner,” said Michael Wolfe, acting secretary of health for DOH.

Physicians interested in signing up to receive the PA-HAN alerts can register online. If you experience any problems, please contact DOH’s Division of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at (717) 787-3350.
