Physician-Friendly, PAMPAC-Supported Candidate Elected to Fill Vacant State House Seat

On Aug. 4, a special election was held to fill the vacancy for state representative in the 87th Legislative District. The PAMPAC-supported candidate, Greg Rothman (R), won decisively with 59 percent of the vote. Rothman is the President/CEO of the central Pennsylvania realty firm RSR Realtors and is a veteran of the Marine Corps.

Rothman’s successful election is the second special election victory for a PAMPAC-supported candidate this year and is excellent news for Pennsylvania’s physicians. Rothman has an appreciation for the many challenges facing the health care system in the commonwealth and understands the critical role that physicians play in providing quality care to their patients. He will be a trusted friend of medicine and reasonable voice in Harrisburg on significant issues that affect practicing physicians.

This vacancy was created after former State Representative Glen Grell (R) resigned to accept a position as executive director of the Public School Employees’ Retirement System. The 87th Legislative District is located in Cumberland County. Rothman will be sworn into office after the election results are certified and he will fill the remainder of the unexpired two year term, which runs until 2016.
