Hot Button Health Care Issues Discussed with House Speaker Mike Turzai at PAMPAC Reception

On Nov. 2, John Wright, Jr., MD, PAMPAC Board Chair, and Bruce MacLeod, MD, PAMPAC Board member and former PAMED president, joined physicians and hospital leaders from throughout southwest Pennsylvania to discuss important health care issues with House Speaker Mike Turzai and his wife, Lidia Turzai, MD, who is a pediatrician and PAMED member.

Speaker Turzai updated the attendees on hot button issues in Harrisburg, such as medical marijuana and the state budget impasse. He emphasized his deep appreciation for physician engagement in the legislative process and thoughts on how physician advocacy helps positively impact health care policy debates in Harrisburg.

The evening fundraising event was co-hosted by PAMPAC and The Hospital and Healthsystem Association Political Action Committee at the Allegheny County Medical Society to support Speaker Turzai, who represents the 28th District in the northern suburbs of Allegheny County.
